Lyrics
Her flower dressed was soaked from dancing on the water in the flooded cemetery on the way to my house.
She laughed, she smiled, she said “you’re just like me, I can’t believe we found each other in that little dive…and I’m so glad you said hi. I wasn’t looking for love, but sometimes it’s so hard to find.”
And when the sun poured in my bedroom, she showed me the tattoo that her sister drew in high school when her grandma died. I had nothing to show but a couple of scars oh I played guitar, but I had never been to New York. When I got up she said “Get back down, I ain’t through with you.”
And last night I dreamt of roses, I dreamt of a honeymoon. And in a fleeting moment, I saw a life with you
I’ll admit New York was a long way away, but we talked everyday, never ran out of things to say. She told me the story of Paul and June, a bandit and his lover forced to duel, but she couldn’t do it, and in the end neither could she. They’d just ride away cause they were meant to be.
One day in late December her voice had changed I still remember it was soft, but it was cold, cold, cold. I wanted to be there I wished I could, I’d sell what I had, I told her I would, but she called me crazy and a fool. “I don’t care that I’m crazy, cause I want to marry you!!”
And last night I dreamt of roses, I dreamt of a honeymoon. And in a fleeting moment, I saw a life with you
